| What are the Contents of a Sliding Door Order? |
A door pack normally consists of the doors, top and bottom tracks and a fixing pack and full fitting instructions. |
| What sizes are Available for Sliding Doors? |
Our doors have no specific size as all our doors are completely made to measure! We do recommend though, that no door exceeds 1070mm, to ease delivery and installation. In some cases we can manufacture wider doors if they are split pattern doors. |
| What if my floor, ceiling or walls are uneven? |
There is a certain amount of tolerance in the track system to allow for unevenness in most floors and ceilings. If the height difference is very slight each bottom wheel can be individually adjusted to raise the door, you can also adjust a door to lean slightly to close flush with a sloping wall. |
| What if my ceiling height exceeds your maximum door height? |
Depending on how much higher it is, we recommend that you allow for ceiling filler panel to be fitted to cover the gap , this may require a substantial timber beam to be installed to support the top track. |
| I have a difficult space to fill, and i m unsure how to use the space. Can you help? |
We offer a design service whereas you can email us your wall measurements or sketch clearly showing the problem areas together with a photograph of the wall. We will then draw a plan and supply a complete list the components you may require to build your wardrobe, along with a full quotation. This design service is offered free of charge. You can email us on kate@sogal.co.uk or fill in the feedback form for details. |

| How do we measure the aperture? |
Measure your aperture width and height in 3 separate places and then deduct 5mm off your smallest size. This will be your order size. The aperture has to be 100% level and square in all directions for best door sliding results and at times you can fix your bottom track directly to the floor or on to a floor plinth which raises the track 18mm above the floor. This is particular useful if the floor runs out and allows you to pack under where floor discrepancies are evident. Also if you are fitting a carpet after it makes a much neater job.
You can also download the "How to measure" from the tab on the home page called Technical specifications > sliding doors > how to measure document. |
| Is there a minimum or maximum dimension in sliding doors? |
The maximum height of the Aluminium and steel sliding doors is 2500mm and there is no maximum width as the number of doors determines the length. However the top and bottom tracks will have a maximum length of 5000mm and If you are fitting your floor track directly to your floor without using floor fillers the maximum ceiling height without using ceiling fillers is 2550mm. You can fix your bottom track directly to the floor but another option which can sometimes make the fitting easier is to first fix a floor plinth which raises the track 18mm above the floor. This is particular useful if the floor runs out and allows you to pack under where floor discrepancies are evident. Also if you are fitting a carpet after it makes a much neater job. |
| Are sliding systems difficult to install? |
No, only basic DIY skills are required. The doors are delivered to you fully assembled with top and bottom runners already fitted to the doors. Your top and bottom tracks are cut to length (width measurement) Full installation instructions are provided with all systems and can be downloaded from the site. We also offer a fitting service as an optional cost within the M25 circle and in the midlands areas. |
| How many doors will my sliding system have? |
When you input your opening width the computer generates the following amount of doors per width. |
» Up to 1800mm = two door system
» Between 1800mm and 2700mm = three door system
» Between 2700mm and 3600mm = four door system
» Between 3600mm and 5000mm = five door system |
| What is recommended depth to fit the tracks from the back wall? |
We recommend about 610mm (two feet). This will give you an overall hanging depth of about 540mm after taking in to account the thickness of the doors and tracks. If you are fitting wall to wall you can set the system further out from the back wall if you prefer extra hanging depth although we feel the recommended depth above is sufficient. |
| My bedroom window does not allow us to fit the system out to 610mm. |
Stop the system short of the window by fitting an end panel, which will form the end of the wardrobe and not interfere with your window or curtain rail. |
| Is Delivery service available? |
We use our own delivery vehicles to deliver the doors and currently delivery time is 7 to 14 days. Deliveries are specified for a day only, unfortunately times cannot be given. Due to the size and weight of the doors, person or persons must be present to unload the goods. |
